Pit Bull Terrier - Sunny - Medium - Young - Female - Dog
Still waiting for the right family to call her own, Sunny, a beautiful, gentle, well-mannered, two-year old Pit/hound mix has been returned to Newtown's Brian J. Silverlieb Animal Care and Control Center for the second time. Why has this loving dog failed to meet the expectations of these two families? The answer is easy- separation anxiety - not an unusual outcome in a short life filled with trauma. Found as a stray in Newtown and brought to Newtown's municipal shelter, it was soon discovered that Sunny had recently given birth. Her puppies were never found. Was she neglected? Abused? On the street rummaging for food and shelter for herself and her puppies? We just dont know. There is no other history for this girl. Unfortunately, her vagabond life has taken a toll on her. She does not like to be alone. Who can blame her after what shes been through? To make her the best family member she can be, a comprehensive long-range plan has been established to assure Sunny that her next trip out will be with her forever home. -Her trainer and shelter staff will meet with all prospective families to determine the best fit for Sunny. -Her trainer will begin working with her and the shelter staff now, to build up her confidence and self-esteem. -And, her trainer will initially work with her and her family after she is adopted or fostered. The good news is that Sunny is SUCH a great dog she now has a fan club of dedicated animal lovers ready to give her every chance to find the perfect forever home. And, her initial training, both at the shelter, and after shes adopted or fostered, will be paid through a generous donation from Canine Advocates of Newtown, Inc. : www.canineadvocates.org. In addition, Canine Advocates is paying for a yearly supply of her current anti-anxiety medication. Sunny's ideal match is with an experienced dog owner, couple or family with another dog (Sunny loves to play with other dogs), with someone who is home most of the time and, most of all, is willing to put in the time and effort to bring Sunny to her full potential. Sunny has waited much too long for the right family to bring her home. Lets make the rest of this girl's life as sunny as her name. You can meet Sunny at the Brian J. Silverlieb Animal Care and Control Center located on Old Farm Road, Newtown, CT. (203) 426-xxxx. Sunny - a spayed female 2 -3 year old pit bull/hound mix. She weighs around 40 pounds, has a very soft white & tan coat, and is quite energetic - the picture of health! This little girl is a very sweet lady with the potential to become your very best friend. Sunny has been living at the shelter for over a year and a half. When she was first found roaming, it was apparent that she had just given birth to a litter (even though she was barely a year old). But, her babies were lost and couldn't be found. She was engorged with milk and very uncomfortable. She was tenderly cared for by the good people at the shelter and responded in kind to her treatment. Sunny turned out to be a sweet lady and is quite eager to make that leap into the arms of a compassionate someone willing to give her a home. She is a very attractive and lovable dog who loves people in return. In fact, her beauty and charm has made it possible for her to have been adopted twice before. Sadly though, Sunny has been twice returned to the shelter. No, it isn't because of aggression - she's much too sweet for that. Her special need is that she suffers terribly from separation anxiety. Sunny cannot stand to be alone. And, she is terrified of thunder. Clearly, she needs someone with patience and insight to make a family with. She's a sweet dog with special needs. Can you be that someone? Are you that one in a million special someone that she can bond and thrive with? Sunny can be seen at the Brian J. Silverlieb Animal Care and Control Center located on Old Farm Road, Newtown, CT. (203) 426-xxxx.
